| Datum is a communications tool designed with a general marketing
clientele in mind - but it’s very useful for a supplier/client
relationship in any industry. Via your email inbox, you can
have an extended (or interrupted) discussion, pass on a brief,
brain-storm, share files, proof jobs… and every last full
stop and comma is recorded in datum’s database. It’s
no longer necessary to have everyone in the same place at the
same time. |
| Nearly everything happens via the inbox. Some set-up work
needs to be done online – i.e. the project principal (who
has sole admin rights) signs everyone in the project team up
via datum’s simple browser-based console. Each member
of the team gets a welcome email and the process can start.
Each email sent goes to everybody via a one-to-all system: no-one
is ever left out of a loop so you can’t forget to copy
someone in. |
| Datum uses email to share information on individual projects
between, say, a client’s marketing services team, their
PR people, designers, brand manager etc. It helps everyone involved
in the process to keep track and be aware of how all jobs are
developing on all fronts. All messages are delivered to the
inboxes of all the team involved and a complete record of the
project briefing is stored here in threads. As a result, datum
facilitates the checks and balances all projects need because
misunderstandings and factual errors are more likely to be spotted
and corrected by someone along the line. |
| A document management system within datum allows nominated
individuals the rights to a password-protected area to upload
and download files via the online console. The project leader
controls who has access to what so people only see files they
need to see. |
| The annual licence fee is £2400 GBP (US$4,536) per hundred
users, plus VAT. So £200 GBP (US$378) per month allows
you to set up 10 clients with up to 10 people in a team (that’s 100
users). |
